Alumni Industry Advocate Advisory Board
The Alumni Advisory Board of the Department of Telecommunications serves to advise the Department of Telecommunications in resource development and professional engagement initiatives, and works with the chair of the department to achieve these initiatives. The Board will be composed of 8-12 distinguished alumni of the Department of Telecommunications (or formerly known as Radio Television & Film). Its members offer support to accomplish the mission of the department and the School of Communication Studies in which the department belongs.

Brittanny Barhite, 2005
Brittany graduated with honors in 2005. She majored in
telecommunications with a minor in political science.
She received her masters' degree in communication from BGSU as well. You can also
hear Brittany live on Star 105.5 during the weekends.
She now works at Communication Engagement Leader at First Solar Energy, Toledo.

Lisa Braun, 1987
Marketing Manager, Cincinnati Reds
Lisa handles the advertising, strategic partnerships and media promotions for the Cincinnati Reds. Her diverse background in media and entertainment includes serving as Vice President of Music Marketing & Promotion for MTV, as well as New Media Director for Clear Channel Cincinnati. Lisa has experience in radio programming and on-air with several stations in Ohio and Indiana. She has been inducted into the Matthew 25: Ministries Humanitarian Hall of Fame and named one of Billboard Magazine’s Most Powerful People in Hard Rock. Lisa is a former WFAL Program Director and has served as President of the BGSU Radio Alumni Society.

Paul Braun, 1977
Paul Braun is the Vice President of Programming and
Public Affairs for the National Division of Time Warner
Cable, a management group of unclustered cable systems,
representing approximately 450,000 subscribers in 20
states. Paul is on the selection committee for the Tony
Cox Grant Fund for Cable Positive, the industry's HIV/AIDS
awareness group and winner of the organization’s
Brad Wojcoski Memorial award. He has also been on the
Board of Governors of the National Academy of Cable
Programming. In addition to a Masters in Radio, TV and
Film from Bowling Green, he holds an MBA from the University
of Denver. In 2002, he received the Best Accomplished
Graduate Award from the BGSU TCOM Department.

Bob Dodwall, 1965
Dual Major in Speech and Education
Fund -raising consultant, Industrial Theater Corporation
Cleveland, Ohio and Houston, Texas
Dodwall produced PBS and C-Span Specials, marketing, fund-raising and publicized services which include audio-visual presentations, live stage shows, revues, video tapes, slide presentations, fashion shows, fund raising events, campaigns, political rallies, sales campaigns and employee motivational meetings. Original concepts, scripts and music customized to the needs of the client have been the uniqueness of ITC. Fund raising for six non-profits, including proposal writing, marketing, board training, foundation. networking, membership drives and special events. He was Accomplished Alumni in the Arts, BGSU at 1992 Commencement

Nikki Golden, 2004
Nikki is employed with the Walt Disney Company in Cleveland
as a Promotions Manager. She feels the joy and magic of
placing a smile on someone's face, regardless of age!
Nikki is a 2004 graduate of BGSU with a degree in Telecommunications.
She also enjoys working in the community, spreading the
magic and making sure everyone has "A Magical Day!"

Joshua is the Marketing Solutions Coordinator, Comcast Entertainment Group. His supports the Comcast Ad Sales teams for E! Entertainment Network, plan special promotions & events and coordinate affiliate marketing. |

David Hainline, 1983
After one year of Law School, David moved to Washington
DC to begin his career in the broadcasting industry. David
has worked for Viacom, Emmis Broadcasting, ABC/Cap Cities
and Infinity CBS in various sales and management positions.
He retired as National Sales Manager for the #1 billing
station in Washington, D.C. where he sold and managed
all national accounts totaling over 12 million dollars
for Infinity Broadcasting. Hainline served as President
of CSI-Capitol Services Inc., a self-owned special event management company servicing transportation, shuttle, meeting management, VIP transportation, meeting planning, and other event related activities. He’s now Managing Director of CPS South in Florida.
He has donated two scholarships
to the Department of Telecommunications to benefit students
with financial needs and is the organizer of the BG@100
fund-raising event.

Nathan Heerdt, 1997
Nathan Heerdt was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and is a 1997 TCOM graduate from Bowling Green State University. His first job was in recruiting as an executive recruiter in Columbus, Ohio. In 1998, at the age of 23, Nathan started a local online job board called JobBoards.com. After 6 years, Nathan sold JobBoards.com to a larger local job board and successfully exited the company in 2006. His next start-up, Caster Ventures, is focused on helping companies and organizations monetize online streaming video. Caster builds websites that handle the technology behind streaming video (hosting, bandwidth, e-commerce, etc.) and provide users with management tools that allow companies to quickly implement streaming video as a tool into their training, marketing and sales processes. Caster Ventures has three main websites - www.complycaster.com, www.conferencecaster.tv, and www.schoolcaster.tv.

Stephen Kendall, 1985
Stephen is an instructor in the Department of Telecommunications
as well as the Diis Director of Media Acquisition, Storage, and Distribution
WBGU-TV, BGSU and teaches part-time for the Department of Telecommunications.

David Kennedy, 1976, 1981
David is the CEO of Flycast, Inc. FlyCast (www.FlyCast.fm) was founded in 2006 by a group of seasoned PC industry veterans to create advanced IP-based mobile delivery technology that focused on smartphones and other mobile digital media devices. The company’s FlyCast application offers users over 1200 channels of entertainment, delivered to their smartphone over wireless connections. Prior to his work at Flycast, he was
CEO/Vice Chairman of Interep National Radio
Sales in New York. Interep (IREP.PK) is the nation's
largest independent advertising sales and marketing
company specializing in radio, the Internet, television
and complementary media, with offices in 17 cities.
During the 1970s, David held various radio positions
at WMHE and WLQR until being promoted to Director of
Program Research for Susquehanna Radio Corp. In August
of 1989, he was named Senior Vice President and assumed
direct responsibility for WFMS, Indianapolis, and WRRM,
Cincinnati, while managing group planning and research
operations for all Susquehanna stations. David has actively
participated in, and received numerous accolades from,
the National Association of Broadcasters, Radio Advertising
Bureau, John Bayliss Broadcast Foundation, and the Library
of American Broadcasting Foundation among many others.

Kelli Kling, 1992
Kelli served as Program Director and Operations Manager
for WFAL-AM as well as DJ for WBGU-FM. While earning a
Master of Education in Technology from BGSU, she focused
her attention on a new course about the "Internet
and World Wide Web" and is currently one of the instructors
of this course in the Department of TCOM. Professionally,
Kelli is the Director of Marketing, PR, and Special Events
for the Wood County Historical Center & Museum in
Bowling Green, OH, and serves on various boards throughout
the community such as the Black Swamp Arts Festival, BG
Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Main Street Bowling
Green.

Dave has only 12 years of promotion and marketing experience and served as commercial and promotion editor/producer. He received his bachelor in RTVF and M.A. in Communication from Bowling Green State University. He provide market research and audience analysis for the station.

Patricia Silver, 1976
President, Sphere Entertainment.
Pat's strong broadcasting career expanded into the creation
of the Sphere Entertainment agency in 1980, which has
grown to represent 2000 artists for bookings worldwide
at theatres, festivals, fairs, municipal celebrations,
parties, corporate events and malls. Sphere is a major
producer of licensed TV character live shows in North
America. Sphere is single-handedly responsible for the
artistic survival of many of Canada's outstanding performing
artists. Pat has been nominated for a Juno Award, certified
with a Gold Record, and won many arts awards. Her book,
Face Painting, was a best-seller and sells well
worldwide. She was nominated for the prestigious "Toronto
Sun Women on the Move" award, serves on many industry
boards, is the International Representative to the Children's
Entertainment, and has been recognized for important community
contributions from many organizations.

Tim Wild,
Director of Planning Services, Marcus Thomas
Joining Marcus Thomas as a strategic planner in 2006, Tim brings nearly 15 years’ experience in research and planning within advertising agencies. He is responsible for inspiring and facilitating innovative communication solutions based on business objectives, sound strategies and unique insights. Tim came to Marcus Thomas from Liggett Stashower, a mid-size advertising and public relations agency in Cleveland. There, he was responsible for leading and facilitating strategic development initiatives for clients such as Moen, Forest City and Motorists Insurance Group. Prior to joining Liggett Stashower, Tim was an account planner at Draft in Chicago where he developed direct communications strategies for Kaiser Permanente and Sprint PCS. Tim’s other experience includes developing creative strategies for clients such as BP Connect, MetroHealth and Lake Hospital System at Brokaw and handling the strategic planning for Sherwin-Williams Brands, University Hospitals and Mead School & Office Products at Wyse Advertising. Tim holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and audience research from Bowling Green State University and a master of arts in applied communication theory and methods from Cleveland State University.
