My research interests include sociology of gender, marriage, and families. I am currently working on my doctoral dissertation,
and it focuses on delayed marriage in Japan. I examine attitudes toward marriage as well as marriage intentions among never
married Japanese. I investigated the relationship between mattering (conceptualized as a wife’s perception of how much she
matters to her husband) and her perceived fairness of the division of household labor in my master’s thesis. I am also interested
in well-being of immigrant families, particularly among Asian immigrants. I serve at the National Center for Family and Marriage
Research as a research assistant.
