Dr. Demuth’s research focuses on the correlates (race, ethnicity, citizenship, gender, and age) of crime and criminal case
process decision making. His current research projects include (1) an examination of changes in the age and gender composition
of crime over time for Hispanic, Asian, black, and white populations; (2) an investigation of the joint impact of race/ethnicity
and citizenship status on case processing decisions in the federal courts; and (3) an analysis of the social relationships
and delinquency of Hispanic, black, and white adolescents.
