Profile

Dr. Terry L. Rentner is an associate professor and director of the School of Media and Communication at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. She served as head of the public relations sequence and teaches public relations writing and campaigns courses at the undergraduate level, and persuasion and communication pedagogy at the graduate level. Her research interests include high-risk drinking reduction among college students, and she has received 12 state and two federal grants totaling over $700,000 to support her research and programming efforts, including a $300,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Education awarded last summer. In 2000, her alcohol research and social norms programming was named one of the top seven model programs in the nation. Her research also focuses on service learning in the public relations curriculum and includes conference presentations and book chapters in public relations and pedagogy texts. She has been at BGSU since 1987 and has served as advisor the to the Public Relations Student Society of America for 20 years. She has been a top ten finalists for the Master Teachers award at BGSU and a nominee for the Young Scholars Research Award. This year, she received the Chairs/Directors Leadership Award for BGSU. In spring 08, she received the BGSU Lifetime Achievement award for teaching, research and service.
