Profile:

I incorporate theory and research from a variety of interpersonal communication, sexuality, health, and culture literatures. The broad goal of my work is to improve interpersonal relationships through the examination of sexuality, gender, identity, and concomitant cultural processes. I’m interested in sexuality in the context of close relationships, specifically how cultural and relational processes such as the enactment of values, attitudes, and identities influence and shape effective and satisfying conversations. I focus on the role of culture and relational processes in discussions about sexual issues and disclosure of potentially stigmatizing identities (e.g., LGBQ) in close relationships using interpretive and critical approaches.
