LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon completion of the baccalaureate degree, students in Spanish are expected to:

  • Write, listen and converse proficiently about Spanish and Latin-American literary works, movements, and genres regarding the civilizations of Spain, Latin-America, and the Spanish-speaking world;
  • Master reading comprehension, terminology, and basic research tools appropriate to literary and cultural analysis;
  • Demonstrate language proficiency through standardized examinations;
  • Engage in rational civil discourse in a manner respectful of others and the
    cultural diversity of the Spanish-speaking world.

  • SPAN 3670 Intro. Span. Peninsular Lit. offered only in the Fall
  • SPAN 3680 Intro. Span. American Lit. offered only in the Spring
  • SPAN 3710 Spanish Civilization offered only in the Fall
  • SPAN 3770 Civil: Mexico, Caribbean
  • SPAN 3780 Civil: South America
    12 additional hours at the 400 level
