The Spanish M. A. student may follow one of two degree tracks:
- Plan I requires the completion of a minimum of 30 semester hours of course work and the writing of a thesis for which six
semester hours of credit are granted. Thesis students must also pass the first-year core examination.
- Plan II requires the completion of a minimum of 36 hours of course work. No thesis is required. Under Plan II a candidate
for a degree must pass the first-year core examination followed by an in-depth paper or examination in an area of specialization.
Areas of specialization include US Latino / Spanish American literature and/or culture, Peninsular literature and culture,
and linguistics.
APPLICATION AND ADMISSION
Applicants should have a bachelor´s degree, a major or minor in Spanish, and an overall GPA of 3.0 or better from an accredited
