The Spanish M. A. student may follow one of two degree tracks:

  1. Plan I requires the completion of a minimum of 30 semester hours of course work and the writing of a thesis for which six semester hours of credit are granted. Thesis students must also pass the first-year core examination.
  2. Plan II requires the completion of a minimum of 36 hours of course work. No thesis is required. Under Plan II a candidate for a degree must pass the first-year core examination followed by an in-depth paper or examination in an area of specialization. Areas of specialization include US Latino / Spanish American literature and/or culture, Peninsular literature and culture, and linguistics.

APPLICATION AND ADMISSION

Applicants should have a bachelor´s degree, a major or minor in Spanish, and an overall GPA of 3.0 or better from an accredited college or university. The GRE General exam is required. For more information or to apply, contact:
