Carlo Celli, professor of Italian, attended the Università of Firenze and Bologna, received a B. A. from the University of
Virginia in 1986 and a Ph.D. from UCLA in 1993. He is the author of books on Roberto Benigni, Gillo Pontecorvo, Italian Cinema,
and Niccolò Machiavelli. Dr. Celli's Books He has also contributed articles on Italian literature, film and culture to journals including the Wall Street Journal, Film Quarterly, Italica, Critical Inquiry, Journal of Popular Film and Television, Italian Culture, Romance
