We strive to facilitate students' appreciation of the complexity and diversity of the French-speaking world, both within
and beyond the borders of France. We believe that the ideal study abroad experience should help students to acquire both language
skills and intercultural skills, in a variety of settings. With these goals in mind, we offer students the opportunity to
combine language and culture study both in France (Paris and Tours) and in Burkina Faso in West Africa.
Both academic and experiential, our programs include home stays with French-speaking families and extensive excursions with
our local personnel, as well as the guidance of an on-site director who is a BGSU faculty member. We also allow students the
flexibility of short-term optional sessions and the possibility of beginning studies during the spring semester.
Whether students wish to study abroad for one semester or two, in one location or in three, on one or two continents, the
AYA/France office at BGSU has a program to fit their needs. We are confident that the students' overseas experiences will
help them to become better-informed and more responsible global citizens.
