PSYChology GRADuate Students Advocating for Change Together
(PSYC Grads ACT) |
| Mission Statement |
| We are a psychology graduate student advocacy group at Bowling Green State University that aims to understand the unique needs
of our fellow students and to initiate concrete actions toward meeting those needs. Based on our realization that some of
the social and academic needs of our peers were not fully met, we initiated this student-directed, action-oriented group.
Our ultimate goal is to enhance the lives and well-being of psychology graduate students. |
| Guiding Principles |
• We are an interdisciplinary group. Therefore, we represent all areas of the department (i.e., cognitive, developmental,
industrial-organizational, neuroscience, quantitative, social, clinical) and direct our activities to meet the needs of students
from all areas.
• Our work is a collective and collaborative endeavor. Thus, we share responsibility for our activities, and ownership of
our accomplishments.
• The group’s primary concern is identifying and addressing the needs of psychology graduate students. Thus, other group endeavors
(e.g., publications) are secondary to this concern.
• We aim to establish our organization within the existing network of student-oriented groups and administration. Consequently,
as a group have built and hope to further connections with existing organizations (e.g., APAGS, GSS) and to maintain open
communication with administration.
• The activities of our group are derived from ongoing assessment of all psychology graduate student needs. However, we pay
special attention to the needs of incoming and lower-year students. |
