Research Interests:

  • Relationships between marital and parent-child interaction patterns
  • Assessment and treatment of family and child problems
  • Psychology of religion and applications to family life

Dr. Mahoney, in collaboration with Dr. Kenneth I. Pargament, was recently awarded a $1.2 million grant from the John Templeton Foundation to fund the first in-depth, long-term study of the part religion plays in couples' transition to parenthood.
