Department Application Requirements
Admission to the Bowling Green State University Master of Arts Program in Popular Culture requires a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum 3.0 accumulative GPA.
Applicants must complete the online application for admission to the Graduate College. Applicants are required to take the GRE exam and have the scores reported to the Graduate College. Applicants are also required to have two official transcripts from all institutions attended sent to the Graduate College. Additional information is available on the BGSU Graduate College website.
In addition to submitting the online application, GRE scores, and official transcripts to the Graduate College, applicants must also submit the following paper documents directly to the Department of Popular Culture:
- a department application form for admission to the Master of Arts Program in Popular Culture
- a Statement of Purpose Essay, 2-to-5 typed pages, that describes your motivations for coming to graduate school, what you hope to achieve in Popular Culture Studies, your plans following the receipt of the Master's Degree, and (if requesting an assistantship) your interests in teaching and other skills that may be useful to the Department
- three (3) letters of recommendation written within the past year and mailed by the recommender directly to the Department of Popular Culture.

For full consideration for admission and funding for the following academic year, applications should be submitted by January 14.
