Popular Culture
Department Academic Honesty Policy

The professional-client relationship between faculty and students at Bowling Green State University is based in large part on trust -- trust that faculty will be fair, impartial, and trust that students will do their work honestly. Failure by either party to fulfill this trust violates the basis of the professional-client relationship and therefore voids all work done under such a relationship. Therefore, in accordance with guidelines approved by the Board of Trustees in April, 1981, the faculty of the Department of Popular Culture has approved the following procedure: Students enrolled in courses offered by the Department of Popular Culture whose work violates common standards of academic honesty will receive a failing grade for the course as a whole

Common violations of academic honesty include the following:

  1. Submission of a test, paper, or other assignment written by someone other than the student.
  2. Use of materials not approved by the instructor during an in-class test or assignment (cheating).
  3. Use of uncredited written resources in tests or papers (plagiarism).

If you have any doubts about your work in relation to this procedure, please discuss it with your instructor prior to submitting the work for partial class credit.
