1. Probationers shall provide the Tenure and Promotion Committee and the Departmental Chair with current vitae and any other
pertinent materials for faculty review each year, or as appropriate given the individual's contract, by a requested date.
2. In conjunction with the Tenure and Promotion Committee, the departmental Chair shall prepare a written assessment of the
probationer's strengths and weaknesses in the areas of teaching, research and service annually. This assessment should be
based on accumulated materials.
3. The probationer's credentials and the Chair's evaluation will be shared with the tenured faculty in the Department annually.
A vote on the question of reappointment of the probationer will then be taken. This vote shall be by secret paper ballot and
space shall be provided on the ballot for comments about the probationer's strengths and weaknesses. A majority of the tenured
faculty in the Department will be required to recommend reappointment. The Chair, in conjunction with the Tenure and Promotion
Steering Committee, will count the ballots and prepare a letter for the probationer which will specify the vote of the tenured
faculty and summarize the strengths and weaknesses of the probationer identified by the Tenure and Promotion Committee and
the Chair. The probationer will be invited to discuss this evaluation with the Chair.
