Duration of Studies

The M.A. program can normally be completed in two years of full-time study; the Ph.D. program is designed to be completed in a total of five years.

Assistantships

Teaching assistantships are available at approximately $13,882 per academic year.  There will be summer funding available for a limited number of students on a competitive basis for teaching and research assistant positions. The university pays the instructional and general fees of students who receive these awards.

Non-Service Fellowships

At the discretion of the Department, outstanding Doctoral students may be awarded a Non-Service Fellowship for the fourth year of their study. They receive the same amount as other fourth-year students, but are not expected to carry out teaching duties so that they can devote their time exclusively to their dissertation.
