Department of Mathematics and Statistics Bowling Green State University
Each year the department invites an outstanding senior researcher in probability or statistics to serve as the Eugene Lukacs
Distinguished Visiting Professor during the academic year. The appointment is typically for one semester during the academic
year (Fall or Spring), but the actual length of the visit is negotiable.
Qualifications include a PhD in mathematics or statistics, together with a distinguished record of research in the application
or theory of probability or statistics. It is expected that the visitor will specialize in an area that is not represented
in the department.
Duties include teaching a weekly graduate seminar, interacting with current faculty on research projects, and regular participation
in departmental seminars and colloquia. Some past visitors have chosen to give a formal graduate course, while some have instead
chosen to present a series of related seminars.
According to the current budget expectation, the next opening of the Lukacs Professor position will be in the 2010-2011 academic
year. Interested parties should contact K. Chan, Chair, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Bowling Green State University,
Bowling Green, OH 43403-0223.
BGSU is an AA/EO employer and encourages applications for women, minorities, veterans, and persons with disabilities.
