William A. Kirby, 76, of Bowling Green, Ohio died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at his residence.

William was born October 23, 1930 in Madison, South Dakota. He married Deborah Bard Fowler on April15, 1995 in Toledo, Ohio and she survives.

William attended the University of Wyoming from 1948 - 1953. He was a faculty member at Texas Western College [now UTEP] from 1953 - 1956, and then was in graduate school at the University of Texas from 1956 - 1961. William was then employed at Bowling Green State University in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics until his retirement in 1990. William was a member of the American Contract Bridge League where he was a silver master. He also enjoyed word puzzles, especially cryptic crosswords.

William is survived by his wife, Deborah; a daughter, Avonda Velazquez of New York; brother, James R. Kirby of Mesa, Arizona; and a granddaughter, Alia Velazquez.

Preceding William in death are his parents, William and Lucille; and brothers, Richard and Alan.

There will be no visitation or service.
