David Stone

Georgia Southern University

David Stone is currently the Chair of the MAA Committee on Sections and member of the Board of Governors and Executive Committee. In the Southeastern Section he has served as Governor, Chair and Newsletter Editor; in 1998, he received the Section's Distinguished Service Award. He is a member of the Project NExT Advisory Panel and organized Project SE-NExT. He was principal organizer of the state mathematics/science coalition in Georgia and served as Vice-President of NASSMC (the National Alliance of State Science and Mathematics Coalitions).

His undergraduate degree is from Georgia Tech, his Ph D from the University of South Carolina. He has taught at Georgia Southern since '08 except for a visiting year at the University of Kentucky. He has written one short book, Notes for Set Theory, has published in ring theory and has given numerous talks at AMS, MAA and xCTM meetings. He has also been a frequent contributor to the problems sections in various periodicals. He received Georgia Southern's Award for Excellence in Contributions to Instruction and the GCTM Gladys Thomason Award for Distinguished Service in Mathematics Education, He is an aging racketball player who will not face up to a lack of athletic ability.
