Non-tenure track Instructor to Coordinate Basic Course

The Department of Interpersonal Communication in the School of Communication Studies invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track Instructor position with benefits to coordinate the basic hybrid course. Initial contract may be for up to three years and may be renewed. Appointment starts July 2008.

Responsibilities include coordinating the basic course, providing GTA training and managing the 40+ Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) who are responsible for teaching 40+ sections per semester, teaching undergraduate courses, and service.
Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include evidence of teaching effectiveness and an earned M.A. by the start date. Degree in Communication preferred; related fields considered. Preferred qualifications include experience in directing or teaching a basic course, managerial capabilities (or promise thereof) to direct a multi-section course, and scholarly expertise in pedagogy.

The Department of Interpersonal Communication has 18 full-time faculty and 400+ majors. We also teach more than 2,000 students in the hybrid basic course each year. The Department of Interpersonal Communication is in the School of Communication Studies. The School of Communication Studies also includes undergraduate departments of Journalism and Telecommunications and offers Master’s and doctoral degrees with emphases in communication and culture and media studies.
