ACADEMIC & PROFESSIONAL ADVISING

All faculty advise students, providing expert professional and career guidance. Students are encouraged to enrich their professional and academic development with internships for academic credit. Alumni report these internships provide the professional experience necessary for success immediately upon graduating.

The faculty work closely with The Office of Student Affairs to challenge and engage students by creating supportive, learning-centered environments inside and outside the classroom, encouraging intellectual exchange, professional development, cultural literacy, self-assurance, respect for others, and the responsible exercise of individual expression.

When students declare interpersonal communication as a major, they are assigned a departmental faculty advisor. Students should meet with their advisors at least once a semester and up-date the checklist for their BA or BAC degree. During the Junior year, students and their advisors complete a degree audit to ensure that students are aware of remaining requirements to graduate.
