History is the investigation of change and continuity in human societies. Historical study aims to understand the past in
order to understand the present more fully. Studying history creates a trained habit of thinking in the long-term, and integrating
political, social, economic, artistic, intellectual, and cultural factors into both the long-term and short-term aspects of
society.
BGSU is a great place to study history. Because we also offer a Ph.D. in History, we provide you with a large faculty of
full-time members that includes several world-famous historians and represents a wide range of specialities.
As a BGSU History major, you will take classes from some of the best scholars in the field and choose courses from a wide
array of options in U.S., Latin American, East Asian, African, European, and World History. Within these fields, faculty specialities
