The Program in Policy History of Bowling Green State University announces the establishment of a web-based series, Working
Papers in Policy History. The objective of this website will be to create a space within which cutting edge and developing
research on policy history can be pre-published, reviewed and evaluated by the broad and growing community of specialists
in policy history and the policy sciences. This space will be devoted, that is, to the history of policy makers and policy
formation, policy implementation and its consequences, and to the institutional and organizational frames within which these
events occurred.
The perspectives of the Program in Policy History and, thus, of the Working Papers are both global and comparative. They do
not, that is, focus exclusively on one polity or society and, where possible, they seek enlargement and depth through historical
comparison. Because it examines the social context of policymaking and the consequences of policies, policy history integrates
scholarship in political and institutional history with cutting edge work in social and cultural history in such areas as:
Women, Gender, and Policy, Social Policy, Foreign Policy/International Security, Economic Policy, and The State and State
Formation.
Members of the Oversight Board of Working Papers in Policy History include Professors Robert Buffington, Gary Hess, Beth Griech-Polelle,
and Peter Way, all of the Department of History, Bowling Green State University. Professor Don K. Rowney, Director of the
Graduate Program in Policy History, will coordinate the work of the Oversight Board.
Proposals and correspondence may be directed to
