Department of History

An internship can provide a great opportunity for helping you explore and prepare for a career while honing your job-seeking skills and obtaining real world experience to list on your resume. The History advisor can help you arrange an internship or you can arrange your own. The possibilities are endless. 

To earn college credit for internship, you will need to meet with the History advisor, complete the internship contract, and fulfill the requirements. Our students have completed internships at local, regional, and national institutions such as:

• The Ford Museum
• Ohio Attorney General's Office
• The Smithsonian (DC)
• The Ohio Legislature
• Hayes Presidential Center
• Museums
• Colonial Williamsburg
• The U.S. State Department
• Foreign countries while studying abroad

Current undergraduate interns and placement sites include: Rivers of Steel NHA Archive; Williams County Library Research; and Milan Historical Museum.

 An internship contract must be completed in consultation with the History adviser and your on-site supervisor

Completion of a portfolio is required to earn college credit for an internship in History. The portfolio is a creative product that documents and presents your work.
