|
Recent BGSU graduate students who have completed internships include:
· Rebecca Dutton (M.A., expected in 2003) at the Wood County Historical Center. Becky won the Pelton Memorial Fellowship and
researched and wrote a history of the Wood County Court House.
· Randy Brown (M.A., 2002) at Providence Metropark. Randy served for a summer as a historical interpreter on a working canal
boat before being hired on the next year.
· Zachery Williams (Ph.D. expected in 2003) at the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies in Washington, DC. Zach
researched and published articles in Focus, the Joint Center's magazine for policy makers; prepared a draft proposal for an
economic development program for the Democratic Republic of the Congo; and researched a study on the role of African Americans
in U.S. diplomacy in the post-World War II period.
· Dave Haus (Ph.D. expected in 2003) held the Simmons Internship at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan and worked
in the museum's glass collections.
· Jim Buss (M.A., 2002) at BGSU's Center for Policy Analysis and Public Service. Jim researched land law in conjunction with
the Ohio Legislature's efforts to change procedures for annexation. Jim is now pursuing a Ph.D. in history at Purdue University.
· Janet Kennedy (M.A., 2001) won the Pelton Memorial Fellowship and used her internship to reorganize the photograph collections
at the Wood County Historical Center. After graduation she was found full-time employment at the Center and at the Rutherford
B. Hayes Presidential Museum in Fremont, Ohio.
· Mark Phillips (Ph.D., 1999) interned for Senator Randy Gardner in the Ohio Senate and authored a report, "Beleaguered, Yet
Full of Promise: Early Childhood Care and Education in the United States," for the Senate Education Committee. Mark now works
for the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service.
· Chris Butler (M.A., 1999) interned for the Organization of American States in Washington, DC. He is now employed by Georgetown
University.
· Jim Weeks (M.A., 2001) won the Pelton Memorial Fellowship and interned for the Wood County Historical Center. He is now
working on a Ph.D. in history at Ohio State University.
· Sonya Vilvens (M.A., 2001) interned at Fort Meigs in Perrysburg, Ohio where she prepared a map showing the historic uses
of the site from the late eighteenth century to the present day. The map was used to guide archeological excavations at the
site
