Applicants seeking admission to the graduate program in history should follow the instructions outlined in the "Graduate Admission" section of the graduate catalog. In addition to the general Graduate College requirements, an applicant should submit the following items along with the application for admission form:
- at least three letters of recommendation from professors of history or a related field;
- evidence of ability to do research and writing, such as a copy of a seminar paper or thesis;
- a statement of purpose describing your area of research interest, your motivations for coming to graduate school, and your aspirations following receipt of the graduate degree.
For admission for fall semester and priority consideration for an assistantship, the application deadline is January 15.
For admission without consideration for an assistantship, the application deadlines are December 1 for the spring semester and April 1 for the summer and fall semesters.
