Doctoral Fellowship in Policy History
Bowling Green State University

The Department of History at Bowling Green State University annually considers its graduate applicants for a Fellowship in Policy History in its Doctoral Program. The fellowship will be non-service in nature for the first year, and take the form of a teaching or research assistantship for three years thereafter. The successful applicant will receive a stipend (currently $12,118 per annum), a tuition waiver, and have her/his general fees paid.

Our selective program in Policy History focuses on the origins, implementation, and consequences of decision-making by government and private organizations. Doctoral students analyze the social contexts of policymaking and the consequences of policies, integrating political and institutional history with cutting edge work in social and cultural history. Students can specialize in European, Russian, Asian, Latin American, or North American history, and the program encourages comparative work among these areas. Within the Policy History Program, the Department has developed five areas of special strength:

· Economic Policy
· Foreign Policy/International Security
· Gender and Policy
· Social Policy
· The State and State Formation.
