Dr. Ed Danziger, Distinguished Teaching Professor (Ph.D., University of Illinois, 1966). Professor Danziger's current interests in Great Lakes history guide both his teaching
and research. His classes include Native American history, American environmental history, and Ohio history. Each course examines
Canadian as well as American developments. His books include Indians and Bureaucrats: Administering the Reservation Policy during the Civil War (University of Illinois Press, 1974), The Chippewas of Lake Superior (University of Oklahoma Press, 1978; rev. ed., 1990), Survival and Regeneration: Detroit's American Indian Community (Wayne State University Press, 1991), and Great Lakes Indian Accommodation and Resistance during the Early Reservation Years, 1850-1900 (University of Michigan Press, forthcoming in 2009).
