Summer Program
St. Petersburg, Russia

June 9–July 11, 2008
Five Weeks

The BGSU Summer Study abroad program is located in Saint Petersburg, founded by Peter the Great in 1703 as a "window to Europe.”  Today the city is the cultural capital of modern Russia. It combines Russian heritage and tradition with a distinctly European outlook. In the summer the natural phenomenon of White Nights attracts thousands of tourists, musicians, and artists, who celebrate the most romantic time of the year. Saint Petersburg State Mining Institute (Technical University) is Russia’s oldest institution of higher education, established in 1773 by order of Empress Catherine the Great. The university is also home to one of the world’s premier collections of minerals and gems.
