Introduction

This webquest is designed for English as a Second Language at the undergraduate level to help reinforce their use of the future tense (command tense) using the four elements of communication: reading, writing, speaking, listening.

Learners

This webquest is designed for ESL undergraduates, therefore they assumption is that they have successfully passed the TOEFL. However, it could be used for high level IEP students as well (those studying for the TOEFL).

Prior to the lesson learners will need to have at least an introductory knowledge of the future tense.

Curriculum Standards

Conforms to the curriculum standards of Bowling Green State University's Intensive English Department Beginning English.

Process

Lesson should be done in a 50 minute lab.

Should be done individually.

Students should have experience using a digital recording software (such as Audacity), a word processor (such as Microsoft Word), and the internet.

Resources Needed

Internet Access (using a Firefox browser preferably)
Blackboard Digital Dropbox
Audacity
Microsoft Word

Evaluation

Each task will be evaluated based on 1) the correct use of the future tense, 2) completing the tasks as directed, 3) the quality and creativity of effort. This is defined in detail in the rubric listed on the Evaluation page.

Conclusion

At the conclusion of the assignment students will have learned some American cultural items while increasing their comfort with using the English future tense.
