A WebQuest for Japanese 101 students studying the Conditional Tense

Introduction

This webquest is designed for Japanese 101 students learning the conditional tense. Reviews weather, location, and food vocabulary and introduces shopping vocabulary.

Learners

This webquest is designed for beginning Japanese students at the high school and undergraduate levels who already have a firm grasp on present, past, and future tense.

Curriculum Standards

Conforms to the curriculum standards of Bowling Green State University's Japanese Program.
Supplements Chapter 7 of Yookoso!

Process

Lesson should be done in a 50 minute lab.

Should be done in pairs.

Students should have experience using a digital recording software (such as Audacity), a word processor (such as Microsoft Word), and the internet.

Evaluation

Each task will be evaluated based on 1) following the directions (reading and listening) 2) the correct use of the conditional tense (writing and speaking), and 3) pronunciation (speaking). This is defined in detail in the rubric listed on the Evaluation page.

Conclusion

At the conclusion of the assignment students will have learned the conditional tense and vocabulary related to shopping.
