Goals: familiarize the students with understanding and managing travel by train, practice reading comprehension and speaking skills in a practical application

Step 1
You’ve arrived by plane in Frankfurt, and now you need to somehow get from Frankfurt to Salzburg to begin your academic year abroad.
Instructions:
Choose a train to Salzburg from Frankfurt, utilizing the websites below. Write your travel summary in complete sentences in German. Make sure to include the date and time of arrival/departure, the place and time of any layovers, the duration of the trip, what kind of train(s) you will be taking, and the price of the trip.

Step 2
Having researched your trip, you need to call up the train station and book your ticket for this exact travel plan.
Instructions:
You will make a phone call to the train station, and in German will relay all the information of your desired travel plan (from Task 3) to them, to reserve your ticket. Use Audacity and create an .mp3 recording of what this telephone booking would sound like.In your reservation, make sure to include the following:
- express your intent to book this ticket
- relay all the information in your trip summary
- say what kind of ticket you want: i.e. round-trip, one- way, first/second class, etc.
- close the conversation with a question regarding the payment method
Save your file as YourName.mp3 and sent it to the instructor's digital drop box.
