Japanese Summer Program

Academic Program:
The summer study abroad program offers students an opportunity to study
the Japanese language and to acquire the first-hand knowledge of the Japanese
people and culture.
Date:
Leave on end of June until end of July.
Sponsoring Schools:
Nagoya Gakuin
University. NGU is conveniently near the town of Seto, which
is 30 minutes by train from Nagoya City.
Credits:
The students will receive 6 credits for the language and culture:
either Japanese 200 or 300.
Course Description:
The students will usually attend Japanese language classes in the
morning Monday through Friday. In the afternoons students will be exposed
to the Japanese culture studies, such as Japanese society, intercultural
communication, business, ceramics, calligraphy, literature, sports,
religion, tea ceremony, flower arrangement-Ikebana, etc. A variety
of field trips and excursions are planned throughout the program. The
students will visit the shrines, the museum, hot springs, the Castle,
Hiroshima Kyoto, Nara, etc.
The students will experience home-stay one weekend.
Field Trips:
There will be over-night field trips and one-weekend stay at home.
Living Arrangements:
The students will live in the university dormitory of Nagoya Gakuen
University.
Eligibility:
The program is open to the students who have completed one year of
the college level elementary Japanese language class or demonstrate
its equivalent Japanese proficiency.
