Programs Abroad
at Nanzan, Saitama, and
Hiroshima Jogakuin Universities
Overview
Qualified Students will be able to go to Japan as exchange students at Nanzan
University, Saitama University, and Hiroshima Jogakuin University from September
through May under the agreements between the university and the host institution
in Japan. The credits earned in Japan are transferred to BGSU and are counted
toward graduation. The applicant must complete Japanese 102 and one course
with a component on Asian culture,society, or history and maintain a 3.0
or higher GPA to be eligible. Open to any major.
Nanzan University
Nanzan University is located in Nagoya, Japan. Nanzan university admits
one student from Bowling Green State University every year with a tuition
scholarship. BGSU students pay for a round trip airfare and for room and
board for two academic semesters to Nanzan University. The students
will stay either with host families or in the dormitories.
Saitama University
Saitama University is located in Saitama, Saitama Prefecture. Saitama
University admits one to two students from BGSU every year with a full tuition
scholarship. BGSU students pay for a round trip airfare, room, and board.
One student is eligible to apply for the Japanese Government Scholarship. Students reside the the dormitory for international students.
Hiroshima Jogakuin University
Hiroshima Jogakuin University is located in Hiroshima. HJU admits one female
student every year from BGSU with a full tuition scholarship. The BGSU student
will live with host families.
Saitama University

Tokai Rubber Industries, Inc. in Komaki admits one student each year
for a six-month program, from July to December. Komaki City is near Nagoya
City, Aichi Prefecture. Conditions for participation are the same as those
for the Bridgestone program.
Bridgestone Elastech Co., Ltd. in Shizuoka may admit one student from
Bowling Green State University every year, from January to June. The student
will receive a monthly stipend, free housing, and opportunities to travel
in Japan. The student must at least complete Japanese 101 and one course
with a component on Japanese culture, society, or history before participating
in the program and must maintain 3.0 or higher GPA. This interniship is open
to any major.
