German Language Courses

The German language courses from beginning to advanced level form the core of the program. Placement in one of the five levels is determined by a placement test given on the first day. Classes are held Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Supplementary excursions are held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and on Saturdays (attendance optional).

Credit: 4 semester hours per three-week session awarded at the appropriate level.

When applying, be sure to indicate on the application form previous courses taken in German, if any, with dates. This will aid us in determining preliminary placement and credit options. Also, if you are not a BGSU student and are planning to take a language course to fulfill a requirement at your home institution, you should inform the appropriate advisor or office on your campus of your intentions. See the link below for more information on credit options and descriptions of each course level.
