Understanding of other cultures and languages enhances the future of BGSU graduates. The department of German, Russian and East Asian Languages offers a variety of programs, courses, and education abroad experiences for students in a variety of majors.

Academic Programs

German Program: The department awards both majors and minors in German, as well as a Masters of Arts in German. Students who wish to teach German earn a Bachelor of Science in Education degree with a major in German.

Russian Program: BGSU is the only public institution in northern Ohio to offer a full, four-year course of study in Russian culture and language. The department awards both majors and minors in Russian.

Chinese Program: The department offers a three-year language and culture program in Chinese.

Japanese Program: The department offers a three-year language and culture program in Japanese.
