Welcome to the Department of German, Russian, and East Asian Languages

The department fosters understanding of self and the world. Subject areas include language and culture; literature, cinema, drama, and related fields. Students and faculty collaborate on student organizations, research, off-campus projects, and education abroad around the world.

The department has close associations with such areas as business, education, and the social sciences and supports interdisciplinary programs such as Asian Studies, Film Studies, the Honors Program, International Business, International Studies, Women's Studies, and teacher preparation.
