Participants are required to complete the following mandatory training: "Appreciating Diversity," "Preventing Sexual Harassment," and "Preventing Employment Discrimination."

Appreciating Diversity

This program is a classroom session that is scheduled on Wednesday afternoon of GradSTEP week in August.  Participants will be divided into two groups:  D1 and D2.  D1 will meet 1:30 - 3:00 p.m., D2 will meet 2:30 - 4:00 p.m.  Each group will meet in room 111 Olscamp Hall at their assigned time.  The first 1/2 hour of this program will be an entertaining and thought-provoking theatrical performance by BGSU's Humanities Troupe.  Immediately following the performance students will move to designated classrooms for small discussion groups.  Classroom assignments will be provided on the session schedule form students receive at GradSTEP Check-in.

Preventing Sexual Harassment: Everyone's Problem, Everyone's Responsibility
and
Preventing Employment Discrimination

These are training modules that you can complete on-line even before you arrive on campus! If you cannot complete them before you arrive please be sure to complete them by the end of the 1st week of semester classes.

These are Internet-based programs so they are available to you at any time. You may access it from your home, office, a computer lab, or any location where you have an Internet connection. After you complete the training modules, you will be asked to complete a Mastery Test. To document completion of your training you must pass the Mastery Test and provide your first and last names, your BGSU student ID Number, and select your academic department from the Department/Work Unit menu. Students serving as Teaching Assistants should select the Faculty category. All others, or if you are not sure of your assistantship assignment, should select Student.

It is recommended that you complete the training module on Preventing Sexual Harassment first and then do the Preventing Employment Discrimination training. NOTE:
READ THIS CAREFULLY BEFORE BEGINNING THE MODULES!!
Since most of us have pop up blockers, you may need to hold down the Ctrl (control) key at the same time you click on the bar to submit your test and print your certificate. This certificate is for your records.  However, to document your completion of the training modules you will neet to print out the certification form and complete the required information.  This form may be turned in at the Check-out station in 101 Olscamp Hall on Sunday, August 17th or Monday, August 18th or mailed to the GradSTEP Office in 215 South Hall.

Students participating in the Ongoing Program are to return the completed certification form directly to the GradSTEP Office in South Hall.

Please read each section carefully. Completion of each online training module takes approximately one hour, depending on the number of interruptions.
