EcoQuest New Zealand
Applied Field Studies

BGSU Home Page
EcoQuest’s mission is to provide committed
students and scientists, resource managers,
and resource users with a comprehensive
education in biology, applied ecology,
conservation, and sustainable management
of land and sea.We focus on the practical
methodologies of problem-solving by
plunging people into real - world case
studies which bring together all of the key facets of defining, understanding and resolving the issues arising at the interface of people and the natural environment. New Zealand offers the ideal context for hands-on, multidisciplinary studies:
  • Rich cultural traditions;
    A vast expanse of relatively unspoilt natural areas in a mild climate
  • Innovative legislation
    (such as the 1991 Resource Management Act, and the pending Hauraki Gulf Marine Park Bill)
  • A history of practical, field-focused approaches to resource management;
  • Great ecosystem diversity
