L. to M.
In 1200 B.C. in ancient China there was a shepherd that lived out in the middle of nowhere. Even now, in 2007, the place he lived is the dead center of nowhere, so you can imagine what it was like back then. One day, he caught a wolf standing over one of his lambs. The lamb was dead.
“Why did you do this?” the shepherd asked.
“It’s my nature,” barked the wolf.
“I’m pretty angry with you, you trickster,” said the shepherd. “Do you have anything to say for yourself?”
“No. Not really,” said the wolf licking his chops. “That lamb tasted pretty good though.”
The answer enraged the shepherd and he beat the wolf to death with his crooked staff.
