Transfer Students |

|
The Criminal Justice Program welcomes transfer students from both 2-year and 4-year institutions. In all cases, the faculty
will work to make the transition to BGSU as easy as possible.
The key issue in transferring to BGSU is how prior course work will count toward the Criminal Justice degree requirements
at BGSU. For many 2-year programs in the state of Ohio, we have already developed lists of course equivalencies. In those
cases where this has not already been done, we will make a determination of equivalencies based on the level of the prior
courses, the course descriptions, and course syllabi. Transfer students should try to collect this information and make an
appointment to meet with a Criminal Justice faculty member to go over the materials. Our goal is to help transfer students
complete their bachelor's degrees in the shortest possible time.
Given the nature of our program, there are certain courses that will not be accepted as credit to fulfill criminal justice
requirements. These courses are typically more training in orientation and include such topics as: defensive driving, patrol
operations, ballistics, firearms, and courses on specific criminal codes. These courses may count toward the minimum credit
hours needed for graduation, but not for criminal justice requirements
