Bowling Green State University, the School of Media and Communication and Department of Communication are proud to offer a Forensics & Debate Graduate Assistantship for eligible students interested in masters or PhD work at BGSU.  In addition to pursuing an excellent advanced degree program, the assistant will work with our national award-winning Forensics and Debate Team.

FORENSICS GA RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coaching a full spectrum of I.E. events or debate (Lincoln/Douglas or Parliamentary) under the guidance of the Director of Forensics.
  • Judging at local, regional and national tournaments.
  • Participating in recruitment and promotion events.
  • Assisting in the coordination and operation of one of the nation's oldest forensics tournaments, the Falcon Classic in conjunction with institutional swing tournament partners.
  • Administering program operational budget and tournament logistics.
  • Assisting in the general support of the program.
  • Assisting with the guidance of our Pi Kappa Delta Chapter and Alumni Chapter

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS

  • Meet the admission requirements for the BGSU graduate school and School of Media and Communication.
  • Have experience in forensics or debate competition (debate - Lincoln/Douglas or Parliamentary).
  • Work collaboratively with coaches and students.
  • Be able to balance a commitment to coaching with upholding high academic standards.
  • Be motivated and able to motivate others.

ABOUT THE FALCON FORENSICS TEAM

BGSU has a student body of 21,000 students centrally located in Bowling Green, Ohio near both Toledo and Detroit, Michigan.  The Falcon Forensics Program is housed within the Department of Communication and works collaboratively with the Department of Theatre and Film.  The program is an active member and participant with the National Forensic Association (NFA), Pi Kappa Delta National Honorary (PKD), Collegiate Forensics Association (CFA) and International Forensic Association (IFA).  Consisting of 15-20 team members, the Forensics Team annually travels to 16 tournaments around the region, nation and globe.
