Exam Dates:
Three Exams:
- Wednesday September 26 (100 points each)
- Wednesday October 31 (Halloween)
- Wednesday December 5
Final Exam: Monday, December 17
correct time is 1:15-3:15 (175 points) ......[changed Dec 1]
- The final exam will be cumulative (covers all material covered in the course.) In general, exam questions are not repeated on the final exam.
exam policy:
- An exam is only given at the scheduled time. You may not take the exam earlier or later.
- Make up exams are generally not given.
- Students with a valid medical excuse for missing an exam will be graded on the remaining exams, with greater emphasis on the final exam.
- exam style: A typical exam is about 70% multiple choice, 30% short written answers.
- Typical questions will be provided prior to exam.
Other graded assignments:
Paper, due November 19 (details will be distributed and posted on the Web site) (75 pts)
In class quizzes: there may be up to 8 quizzes, generally unannounced. (0-80 points)
Other occasional assignments as announced (up to 80 points)
Grades:
- Grade are based on exams and assignments.
- There will be no assignments for extra credit work or opportunities to retake exams.
- Based on a percentage, you can expect

A = 93% and higher
B=81-92%
C= 66-80%
D= 60-65%
F < 60%
Approximate Schedule:
We will cover the entire textbook, taking the chapters in numerical order.
The course covers 15 weeks and the text contains 13 chapters of comparable length.
Thus, we will typically cover a chapter in 3-4 class periods.
Exams will typically cover 3-4 chapters.
Additional materials will be introduced in lecture. Approximately 10-20% of each exam may be drawn from material that is
not in the textbook.
The Web page will contain a more detailed schedule and it will be regularly updated.
