A formal set of notes on lab reports will be distributed in class, Thursday 10/19. The last few pages have a sample report that you might wish to use as a pattern. This document should be added to your collection of notes for the course.
My absence (10/3-10/12) has had a disrupting influence on the production of lab reports. Normally, I spend a fair amount of time with different groups as the reports are being prepared. Several of the experiments involve relatively complex calculations, and most students need help setting up suitable spreadsheets, debugging the spreadsheets and verifying results. It is generally helpful to have some library or handbook data to use in evaluating your results. If you are left on your own, it can get a bit frightening and overwhelming.
The other web pages in the Chem407 web site try to provide you with some of the details you may need and some guidance in setting up the analysis.
We will also take some lab time on October 19 to review results and to block out some lab reports. We'll also work over some of the spreadsheets.
If you spent your break dutifully writing reports, I'll be glad to accept and review them. If you've been holding off (or if you want to held back the reports you wrote) I'll be understanding. However, we really do need to begin the writing process. (Actually, this is a period when I can really find the time to review your reports in a timely manner.)
