Chemistry Majors
November 8, 2002
Some important information as you register for Spring 2003.
New Course: Environmental Chemistry
- Register for Chem 313, Environmental Chemistry
- 3 hr credit (meets Tuesday and Thursday afternoons)
- Instructor: Dr. Deanne Snavely
- Prerequisites are Chem 128 or 138 and either 306/341 or consent of instructor
- the course is open to chemsitry majors and to students in other fields where topics of environmental chemsitry are important.
- Changes in Organic Chemistry
- Spring organic was previously Chem 342 ( hrs with lab)
- You now register for a lecture and for a lab
- All students register for Chem 344 (3 hr, lecture course)
- All students must also register for either
- Chem 345 (2 hr) two 3-hr labs [all chemistry majors,
including those in Biochemistry, are required to complete this lab course]
- Chem 346 (1 hr) one 3-hr lab per week [for students in other fields
who do not wish the more complete laboratory experience.]
- Chem. 321- course was dropped in Spring 2002; it previously was one way to meet the graduation requirements for a non-ACS chemsitry major.
- Chem. 407 -- now required and must be taken in the fall semester (unless you previously completed Chem 321)
- Chem 352 -- moved to fall semester; all chemsitry majors must complete Chem 405 or Chem 352
- Physics 212 -- Physics 211 conflicted with Organic this fall. If you are completing Physics 201 this semester talk to you instructor about the possibility of shifting to Physics 212 for the spring. They indicated that student who did well in Phys 202 would have that option.
