A Simple List of the Best Chemistry programs in the US
Any such list will be argued, but there's usually pretty good
agreement as well as a spirited discussion of the order
and "how could you possibly say ....". Notice how they
hedge their bets with lots of ties?
One source of bias-- to make the list a department has
to have strong active programs in all of the major areas of chemistry.
This clearly favors large departments.
There are many excellent programs that have chosen to focus their
efforts into several areas and have outstanding programs in those
areas. The rating agency is U.S.News & World Report Inc.
