Core Courses for All Biochemistry Majors
(27 hours of Chemistry)

Three Program Options for all Biochemistry Majors

Option 1 - Combined with an American Chemical Society (ACS) Major - recommended for students whose principal interests are in chemistry - graduate school or an industrial position.

  • Chemistry 463
  • Math through 233 and Math 332 (or Math through 232 and Physics 401)
  • One additional lecture course and 2 hours of lab

Option 2 - Together with a standard chemistry major - recommended for students interested in graduate school in biochemistry or position in the health professions or industry.

  • Math through 232
  • Physics 211, 212, or Physics 201, 202

Option 3 - Together with a minimal chemistry major (32 hours) - acceptable for pre-medical, pre-dental students and some graduate programs in biochemistry and molecular biology. This program is NOT sufficient for graduate work in chemistry at the Ph.D. level.
