Master's and MS-PhD Bridge Program Application Process
Applying to our Master's or MS-PhD Bridge program in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders requires two separate application processes. All application materials are due January 15, 2013. Please be early to ensure that all materials are received on time.
- APPLY THROUGH CSDCAS
This program requires use of the Centralized Application Service for application review. Please submit a completed application and all required credentials to the service at: http://www.capcsd.org/csdcas/students.php. All official credentials must be submitted through the Centralized Application Service. Do not send official credentials or other application materials to BGSU for application processing. The CSDCAS application for BGSU includes the following:
GRE Scores. Have your official GRE scores sent directly to CSDCAS using BGSU's CSDCAS reporting number (0703).
Three letters of recommendation. These should be sent electronically to CSDCAS. Instructions will accompany your CSDCAS application. No BGSU cover sheet is needed.
Personal letter of application. This should be uploaded electronically to CSDCAS. BGSU has our own set of instructions for this, and they are available within our program information on CSDCAS.
Transcripts. Have your official transcripts (from every university you have attended) sent directly to CSDCAS. Please see the "Sending US/Canadian Transcripts" information on the CSDCAS FAQ site. They have a form to use, and an address to tell your university. When entering info from transcripts into CSDCAS, please use the category "Basic Communication Processes" for each class that is in your Communication Sciences and Disorders major. If you have a different major, use "Basic Communication Processes" for your Communication Sciences and Disorders classes.
Fall 2012 Grades. BGSU requires your Fall 2012 grades to be included in your CSDCAS application. Our best advice is to complete and send your complete application during Fall 2012 semester, including your official transcripts. This will allow time for grade verification to take place. Once your Fall 2012 final grades are posted, have a new official transcript sent to CSDCAS and follow the CSDCAS directions for completing an academic update including Fall 2012 grades. Applications will not be considered complete by BGSU until Fall 2012 grades are included.
International applicants: You are required to arrange for foreign transcript reports to be sent directly to CSDCAS from the foreign transcript evaluation agency. CSDCAS information includes a list of possible transcript evaluation agencies. See info here. Also, international students may be requested to provide the Department with a recorded speech sample.
Please read the CSDCAS instructions and follow them carefully. Also, be sure to keep BGSU's program information within CSDCAS open in a separate window to ensure you are following our directions. - APPLY TO BGSU GRADUATE COLLEGE
In addition to the application at www.csdcas.org, you must also apply to the BGSU Graduate College. Students will not be considered for admission until both the CSDCAS application and the BGSU Graduate College application are completed.
You are required to complete the on-line application and pay the mandatory BGSU application fee.
As you complete the graduate college application, make sure that you apply for the Master’s of Science degree (not the Master’s of Arts).
Please do not send any official credentials or other application materials to BGSU. GRE scores, transcripts, and letters of recommendation will go directly to CSDCAS.

Master's Degree Admission Criteria and Prerequisites
A student's admission to the Master's program in Speech-Language Pathology is dependent upon the following criteria*:
- Graduation from an accredited undergraduate college or university.
- A minimum overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.00, and a minimum GPA of 3.20 in the major.
- Three letters of recommendation (sent to CSDCAS)
- GRE scores (sent to CSDCAS)
- Personal letter of application. (sent to CSDCAS)
- Successful completion of the following courses, or their equivalents (30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours). Students seeking public school certification may need additional course work at the graduate level. Descriptions of these courses can be found in the University's Undergraduate Catalog.

- CDIS 2250 Speech and Language Acquisition and Development
- CDIS 3010 Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech Mechanism

- CDIS 3110 Phonological Assessment and Intervention
- CDIS 3510 Language Assessment and Intervention
- CDIS 3610 Diagnostic Audiology
- CDIS 4010 Clinical Methods in Communication Disorders
* A prerequisite worksheet can be found here. Not all students who meet these minimum criteria are admitted into the program. There are approximately 25-28 available spaces per year for incoming graduate students.
