Research:
Molecular Plant-Microbe Interaction; Plant Immunity

Research Interests:

Molecular Plant-Microbe Interaction, my main research interest revolves around the development of a better understanding of how plants response to invading pathogens (Plant Immunity). The laboratory focuses on the molecular aspect of these plant-microbe interactions and currently involves three different projects: Project 1--Discovering signal molecules involved in systemic acquired resistance (SAR) using the combination of proteomics and transcriptomics approaches. Project 2--Functional analysis of ABC-transporters from Phytophthora sojae, an oomycete that causes disease on soybean. We are using yeast, Saccharomycete cerevisiae as a model for heterologous expression of genes in this family. Project 3--The iron uptake system of Phytophthora sojae using a combination of genomics approach and heterologous expression in S. cerevisiae.
