Research Interests:
Population and community ecology of insects;
biology of parasitoids;
parasitoid-host interactions; predator-prey interactions; plant-insect
interactions; agroecosystem ecology;
landscape ecology; effects
of habitat fragmentation on insect populations.
Research
in my laboratory is
focused on insect population
and community ecology.
We are examining the
effects of vegetational
diversity in annual
agroecosystems on insect herbivores and their natural enemies,
particularly predaceous
insects and parasitoids.
The purpose of this
research
is to discover ways
to design agroecosystems to achieve the greatest
biological control
of insect pests. We are
also interested in
the influences of noncrop habitats adjacent to annual agroecosystems
on herbivore and natural
enemy populations associated
with those agroecosystems,
as well as habitat
fragmentation
effects on arthropods.
