Range: Southern Ontario south to eastern Texas and Gulf of Mexico, east to Atlantic Ocean

Size: 18 - 26 inches, max 48 inches

Lifespan: ~12-15 years in captivity

Active: diurnal

Habitat: almost anywhere near water, also in fields and woodlands

Temp.: temp gradient 72 -84F (22 - 29C) daytime; 68 - 74F night;
do NOT exceed 88F (31C)

Foods: earthworms, small fish, amphibians, slugs, insects, crayfish, other snakes

Temperament: tend to be docile
